back & neck pain

Our Physiotherapists are trained in many modalities that will result in the relief of back pain from your first consultation in the majority of cases.

Our Physiotherapists are very experienced in relieving back pain. Our approach is cooperative where we educate you every step of the way so that you get back in control of your pain.

We assess you and let you know if your pain is caused by any of the following:

  • Muscle spasm

  • Joint stiffness

  • Occupational Postural Problems

  • Soft tissue injury

  • Inflammation

  • Disc Protrusion with nerve irritation

  • Nerve irritation

  • Arthritis

  • Other Medical conditions that can cause Back Pain

Depending upon your type of injury the treatment varies, however, we still use the three stages of healing so that you get a strong flexible spine again.

Stage One Treatment - Ease the Pain

When your pain is 5 or more out of 10 with 10 being agony. The Physiotherapist would choose  pain relieving and soothing treatments such a very gentle pain relieving spinal joint mobilisations, dry Needle Acupuncture, soft tissue techniques, pain relieving electrotherapy. Plus we may teach you exercises and movement that relieve the pain and allow you to understand how your pain is created and what to do to ease your pain at home.

Stage Two treatment - Align the body

When your pain is relieved we then assess and treat you so that your body goes back into alignment. We will assess :
Core stability muscles

  • Scoliosis or curvature of the spine

  • Lack of or increased lordosis (spinal curve inwards at the lower spine)

  • Muscle balance to test if your muscles equally strong and flexible on both sides of your body

  • Pelvic alignment

  • Equal leg length

  • Your foot posture such as flat feet or high arches - if appropriate we may prescribe Orthotics

  • We will ask about your work, hobbies and home activities and teach you how to do them so that you stay pain free.

Stage Three treatment - Get strong fit and flexible

We then teach you how to get strong, fit and flexible again. This stage is active and you get very involved with effective fun exercises that could include core stability training, fit-ball, pilate's, the gym or simply walking and special exercises at home.
When you attend to all these stages of treatment your pain is less likely to return and you will understand how to manage your injury for the future so that you are in charge.
